Saving a Volume

MultiTracer version 2

If you have edited a volume (as distinct from the contours associated with the volume), you will want to save the edited volume. Only the first image volume can be edited and saved. Volumes are saved in the same format as the file from which they were loaded, so MultiTracer cannot be used as a file format converter. Files that were loaded as gzip compressed files will automatically be saved with gzip compression.

To save a volume:

  1. From the "File" menu, choose "Save First Volume As..."
  2. In the "Save" dialog, go to the directory where you want to save the data
  3. Enter the new file name in the "Name" field of the "Save" dialog
  4. Press the "Save" button in the "Save" dialog
  5. If you make further edits, you can now save quickly by choosing "Save First Volume" from the "File" menu

Please note that for signed byte (signed char), signed short and signed int data formats, all negative voxel values are set to zero when the volume is loaded and will therefore also be zero in the saved file.
